List of questions/ creative questionnaires to clients if they asked me to design the logo identity. The goal of the question is to meet the clients' need in getting their logo right on track and get what they want. The questionnaire doesnt need to be heavy, just very casual %26amp; relaxing
What kind of creative question should i ask to clients in designing logo identity?
Hi!
Question #1: What colors do you think represent the over all feel of your company? (Then give a list of colors and how the average person associates that color)...

Then present an example for your client... like the fact that many technology companies use the colors grey/silver, blue, black and red.

Then explain what the colors mean for a company logo... Nuetral and conservative, a serious professional (grey and black), reliable and steadfast (blue), modern (silver) and a power player (red).
Think about it... If you were looking to invest millions of dollars in a technology company, are the above traits something you would want that company to have?
Also explain that colors invoke physical responses... Red makes people hungry, yellow makes people happy... Look at McDonalds and Burger King (and even Chilis)... some of the most recongnized logos out there...
Question #2: Who are your target customers? Age and Gender?
Explain that this will be used when you are trying to determine the shape of the logo. Straight lines (or block type letters) tend to be more masculine... where curved lines tend to be more femine. For example, if you were trying to create a logo for an autoshop... lots of swirls and curvy lines (like cursive writing) might turn a lot of "manly" men off. However, it might be good for a woman's salon.
Show them a logo... like "Curves" fitness center for women with its pink and curves and flowers...

Then show them a product for men like Gillette Fusion... All block letters, straight lines and dark colors...

Also, explain that age is important... will the logo be like a cartoon figure... or will it be serious and professional. Explain that you would not create a little guy in a purple robe with a wizard wand and hat for a lawyers office. But that logo might work for a toy store...
Question #3: What kind of logo would you prefer if your company could not use its name... a simple symbol, an abstract picture, a number or letter, etc...?
Say that Time Warner and CBS has an eye... Microsoft has a window...

Unisef uses an abstract picture of a woman and child... while the United Way has a hand holding a rainbow...

Dreamworks has the little boy fishing off the moon and Paramount has mountian with a circle of stars...

And Yahoo! is recongnized by a "Y" with an "!" next to it... American Airlines has two "A"s next to each other...

I think these three questions will help you greatly in finding a logo that best fits a company...
