What do you think about animal testing? Please come take my questionnaire!?

Where do you stand on the issue of animal testing?

Would you buy a product that has been tested on animals?

Why or why not?

I think better methods can be used to test some, but not all, products. To a certain degree I feel it's a necessary evil, but I do believe that it's overused because it's cheap (a rabbit is not going to slap you with a lawsuit.)

I have bought products that have been tested on animals, probably out of ignorance more than anything else. (I don't claim to do a ton of reading up on the subject, nor do I really comparison shop for that purpose.) If there is a product that wasn't tested on animals that was comparable in price and materials to an animal tested product, I would definetely take the non-.

Reply:I am extremely opposed to animal testing. Quite frankly, the majority of it is unnecessary. It is a far outdated way of experimentation and studies have shown that a human may not even respond or react to a substance in a similar manner as an animal. It is cruel, heartless and diabolical. Anyone watching footage of animal experimentation should be horrified by the conditions and the torture these animals endure so we can pamper ourselves.

I believe that testing on animals for thing such as cosmetics is wrong. I believe that if it's medical research that benefits the greater good, then it is O.K.

The thing about animal rights groups like PETA and the HSUS is that they are not what they claim to be. They believe in total animal liberation which means that they think that there should be no circuses, zoos (even AZA), laboratories (even medical), farms, service dogs, police dogs, and PETS of any kind. They believe that animals are better off DEAD then living with even the best pet owner.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) collected millions of dollars from individuals to save the animals during Katrina. They did not use the money to do that though. They are currently under investigation for it. What most people do not realize about HSUS is that they are not your local animal shelter. None of the money that they raise goes to the local animal shelter.

Any ways, back to my point. There has been some good that comes from animal testing. I do believe that there should be better animal welfare (bigger/nicer enclosure, etc.), but stopping medical research all together would stop us as humans from advancing in the medical field.

Reply:I do not agree with animal testing, especially when it comes to cosmetics (do we really need another type of hairspray?). It is cruel and not necessary. I try to only buy products that do not test on animals (but I find it is hard sometimes for certain things), but I do my best.

(If anyone is looking for cleaning products not tested on animals, I recommend Method. You can find their products at places like Shoppers Drug Mart or online)
Reply:Animal testing is cruel and 99% of the time not needed.

Sad.
