Would I use a semicolon a comma or nothing in this sentence?

They also used the questionnaire to determine if there was a difference in the duration of internet use and relationship building such as meeting unknown people, talking to friends or communicating with coworkers and family.

Would I use a semicolon a comma or nothing in this sentence?
They also used the questionnaire to determine if there was a difference in the duration of internet use and relationship building (,) such as meeting unknown people, talking to friends or communicating with coworkers and family.
Reply:No additional comma or semi-colon needed.

If you put a comma after building's, it implies what follows the comma modifies "difference." Leave out the comma, and those words modify "relationship building."

Edit: On second thought, you might want to add a comma after "friends" to avoid confusion, since the final item in your list contains "and."
Reply:hmmm, I think it would be like this:

They also used the questionnaire to determine if there was a difference in the duration of internet use and relationship building%26lt;,%26gt; such as meeting unknown people, talking to friends%26lt;,%26gt; or communicating with coworkers and family.

Let us know which is right... thanks!
Reply:I'd add a comma after "talking to friends", but otherwise additional punctuation is not needed. However, the meaning is vague. If I understand what you're trying to say, I'd put it this way:

"They also used the questionnaire to determine if there was a correlation between the duration of internet use and relationship building such as meeting unknown people, talking to friends, or communicating with coworkers and family."
Reply:No.No semicolon or comma is required in this sentence than already given.
Reply:I'd put a comma after 'such as' but that's me
Reply:that sentence doesn't make sense.

you don't have a difference in something, you have a difference between 2 things. and comparing time (duration of internet use) to an activity like relationship building is like comparing apples and oranges.

if you are comparing total internet usage time to the time spent on the internet doing relationship building, then you should say that much more clearly.
Reply:No it reads OK as it is, although there is a - between co-workers.
Reply:"Difference" suggests a comparison between two or more things. What exactly is being compared is not clear to me, and until I understand the sentence I can't comment on punctuation.

You would use a semi colon as you are starting a list
