Statistics- how can i know if my data is suitable to be analysed using parametric tests on SPSS?
i've read lots of definitions of parametric tests and the requirements of them, but i'm still unsure if my data has "homogeniety of varience" or "normal distribution"- can anyone tell me in very simple terms how i can find out if it is suitable or not? i'm using a questionnaire so want to see if there are correlations between answers of different questions

Sacramento PD I passed written exam,passed interview, passed essay and questionnaire only to be rejected for my background. I have no felonies I only have minor traffic violations. They wont tell me why.

Reply:Where you verbally abusive when you received your traffic violation? The police report will show what the arresting office wrote. Moreso, background checks plays a great part of the hiring process. Get an attorney and expunge your minor traffic violation off your records. The Governor's Criminal Justice Data Center can establish a expungment order to clear your records. Cost me only $15.00 in Hawaii, and make sure they process the expunged order to all criminal data center state and federal. Your pass next time for sure...Good Luck!

Reply:when you were rejected they should have told you why you did not make it,i went through the samething here in lafayette,la.i passed my civil service test and went through the whole prosses,when it was my time to become what i wanted to i got the shock of my life,i got rejected because i was in the wrong place at the wrong time.when i called the recruiting officer to find out what was taking so long he told me that i wasent in because of what happened a year earlier.i don't know what you did in your past but they should have told you that you wernt in.thats wrong,if you need some answers, my e-mail is beautifulsemien@yahoo.com.i don't feel comfi about dicussing this in the open.hit me up maybe i can help you.

It depends on how far along you were, because all major departments issue the following tests:
MMPI-2: a psychological evaluation to determine how aggressive or passive you are... also determines if you have any psychological issues
Some form of lie detector: either polygraph or voice stress. A single lie, no matter how minute, will automatically be reason for not offering employment.
Drug test: self explanatory.
If you did not have to take any of these tests, then they probably spoke to previous employers. Assuming you had a resume' then they also spoke with your references. Some departments will canvas your neighborhood or past neighborhoods and talk to people who have lived by you.
Background checks can be even more extensive than this.
For Sacramento, it is possible that a traffic violation (or even more than one) is grounds for passing on employment. They may have had accidents that have reflected poorly upon the department and made it a point not to hire anyone with a tainted driving record.
Whatever the cause, don't sweat it and hang in there. Re-applying the next time around might catch their attention. Also, there are plenty of other departments out there. Even if you have to settle for a different one, you can re-apply down the line. Nothing looks better for a candidate than work experience as an officer.

Now payment follows, but then Im taking this time to verify first the eligibility of the site from where there is an stated "assurance" to get the Skilled Worker's visa in two days after payment.

Is it legal for HR to require demographic info such as race and gender on a questionnaire? This is NYC?
Supposedly this questionnaire is for emergency contact info--hence we are asked to fill out the form every year in case the info changes, I suppose. But I don't think it's okay for them to require us to report the info.
